Takuya Yamashita

Born in Mie, 1985. M.A. in Sculpture, Faculty of Fine Arts, Kyoto City University of Arts, 2013. Lives and works in Aichi. Using the physical and historical condition of exhibition space and materials, Takuya Yamashita works on three-dimensional objects, wood block printing, photography and drawing with the motif of mascots losing the community which they used to belong. Those representations which are deprived of place where they can exist because of external factors, and they are presented with their phycological situation reflecting them in Yamashita’s installation, that emphasized the space and colors extraordinary. Recent solo exhibitions include “Mascots, Kanye West, Tacos man and others” Token Art Center (2021/Tokyo), “Bears, probably Indians, Mayor or Policeman and their backs, others” VOU (2020/Kyoto), “Yanping N.
