EE_Offsite: BLOCK HOUSE

We will host an off-site, collaborative program featuring BLOCK HOUSE, a multifunctional space promoting Tokyo’s culture.

BLOCK HOUSE is a unique, five-floor space located in Tokyo’s Jingumae district, where fashion shops, galleries, restaurants, and even a tea room coexist. Since its completion in 2012, it has hosted diverse events including exhibitions, live performances, and fashion shows. It functions as a place for creating Tokyo’s culture of tomorrow, transcending frameworks of genre, industry, organization, group, race, and age.

In addition to the second floor exhibition HARUKAITO by ISLAND, there will be special exhibitions coinciding with EASTEAST_TOKYO 2025 at THE PLUG on the first floor, and the fourth floor space.

Galerie Tenko Presents, run by curator Tenko Nakajima who is of German and Japanese descent, presents Boyish, an exhibition of work by Seiji Inagaki (born 1942), preeminent illustrator behind Barazoku, Japan’s first gay magazine.

Galerie Tenko Presents is a nomadic gallery that presents exhibitions in various spaces worldwide. The gallery introduces international artists through off-site exhibitions in Tokyo and abroad. By functioning under this new model, the gallery connects Japan and the international art scene while questioning the traditional gallery model. This exhibition features a series of rare original drawings made by Inagaki between 1982 and 2010.
