Shōei Matsuda

Shōei Matsuda is a contemporary artist whose practice explores the relationship between technology and life through poetic and conceptual interventions, pioneering new forms of artistic expression within our post-digital society. In recent years, Matsuda has focused on reappropriating the collective languages and symbols embedded in contemporary culture through an approach that he refers to as “techno-imagination.” By challenging conventional modes of perception and interpretation, he prompts viewers to reconfigure their ways of seeing and thinking.
Selected exhibitions include Great Reset (MYNAVI ART SQUARE, 2025), DXP – Towards the Next Interface (21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, 2023), and The Big Flat Now (Dubai Festival City, 2023). Major awards include the Currents Art Award (2025) and the Prix Ars Electronica Award (2016).
