GALLERY SOAP was founded in Kitakyushu, Japan, in May 1997 and has been organizing art exhibitions featuring domestic and international artists and music events. It has hosted the solo exhibitions of Dan Graham, Peter Halley, Charles Lim, *CANDY FACTORY, Umi Ishihara, Soh Souen, Keita Egami, and Yasuhide Moriyama. It has also organized curatorial projects, such as RE/MAP PROJECT (2001-2003), Kitakyushu Biennial (2007-2016), and HOTEL ASIA PROJECT (2011- ), which have toured Berlin, Vienna, Singapore, Bangkok, Chongqing, Yogyakarta, Taipei and Tokyo.
